It is getting close to your time to leave Boa Vista. The first thing you need to do is confirm the departure time of your flight. The internal TACV flights are prone to cancellation/rescheduling at short notice. We recommend calling 24 hours in advance and then checking again on the day of your departure. You need to plan to get to the airport 1hr before if you are on a domestic flight or 2hrs before if you are on an international flight. If you are at a beach club or a major hotel then this will usually be laid on for you. All other hotels will arrange for transport usually an aluguer. If you are in a private apartment then you will need to arrange your own transport, booking an aluguer in advance is not guaranteed to work, it is best to head for the town square in Sal Rei where it is always possible to get an aluguer, they usually congregate at the eastern corner of the square by the open air cinema. All hotels will ask for your passport on arrival, do not forget to take your passport back when you leave, Also please remember that Cape Verde Escudos cannot be exchanged outside of Cape Verde.

The new airport on Boa Vista is very basic. At the time of writing there was only a bar selling drinks and a small range of snacks open, there are a number of other retail outlets understood to be opening in the near future (please refer to the FORUM for the latest updates). Once you pass through the security barriers there are no shops.

Currently there is no confirmed date for direct flights from the UK but these will definitely start ahead of the opening of the Riu Karamboa in October 2008 (please refer to the FORUM for the latest updates), therefore you will not be asked to complete your exit paperwork and your baggage will not be scanned since you will only be on an internal flight. If you are on an Italian charter flight then you will be handed an exit form to be completed before you reach the immigration control desk and you will be subject to full security scan checks.
